Many cities, with London no exception, continue to experience the mass movement of people. It’s as if everyone these days has come from somewhere else. The Two Timer Clock acknowledges this modern condition with two clocks sharing the same dial. The clock utilises two quartz movements with a carefully devised dial that serves both time zones. The clock is housed in a pressed aluminium frame for strength, with a silkscreened glass face.

Plinths I and II are made from Corian, a performance material usually associated with counter tops due to its durability, non-porosity and seamlessness. In this example the design uses the V&A museum courtyard as the context for the bench, rather than shaping material merely to make an isolated piece for visual interest. The two Plinths share the same design, but are of different heights and lengths; when placed together they create an opportunity for people to complete the sculpture.

When a child draws a light, they not only draw the source of the light, but also they try to draw the quality of light itself - as if light were an object. This simple idea is involved in 'Beam'. It's an illustration of light itself as it emanates from a metal shade. Using a contrasting pallette of spun metal and blown glass, Beam provides a combination of ambient and directional light, seamlessly combined. Beam is presented in variations of colour in the formats of pendant, table and floor lights.

Table, Bench, Chair

Production

2009 -

It was while riding the Tokyo Yamanote line, that we noticed that the seating appeared as long red benches, free of any arm rests that would normally divide it into individual seats. To overcome the problem of seat assignment, the bench had one pink coloured zone - the size of a chair -  so that the first person to enter the train would unconsciously gravitate towards this pink part and sit down. This first passenger had effectively sub-divided the rest of the bench for everyone else, so that no space was lost, as the train got fuller along its journey.

What if there was a bench that used a chair to create a sitting zone. Table, Bench, Chair uses this observation to form a highly flexible matrix of different functions where its flexibility also results in its oddity.

An oak plank acts as the bench that can be of varying lengths. Bent wood is used to deleniate the chair, with a corresponding concave soffit to give a little more comfort. Table, Bench, Chair can be used for the hallway of a home, waiting areas, lobbies and set-down areas.
